DIY USE FOR K-Y JELLY ???

Yes! This is another Thrifty Little Tip for ya! Did you know there are TONS of thrifty household uses for K-Y - it's very helpful for DIY'ers...check these out:

Loosen Stick Price Tags and Product Labels - Cover the tag or label with a light layer of the lubricant and let it sit for a few minutes. Then peel it right off.

Remove Tight or Stuck-on Rings - Just place a dab of it on your finger right by the ring. Then, work it underneath the ring until it easily slides off your finger.

Lubricate a Fishing Rod Reel - Part of maintaining your fishing rod is to keep it properly lubricated. Applying a light oil like K-Y Jelly to the working inner parts like the gears, shafts, roller, hinges, and switches will help keep them working smoothly. It will also extend the life of the parts and save you from having to buy a new fishing rod. It won't damage plastic or nylon gears either.

Sticky Zippers - If your zipper has ever gotten stuck on your coat, you know what a pain it is. Just put a dab of K-Y Jelly inside the slider part. Then, slowly move the slider up the length of the zipper, and back down again. The zipper should now glide easily and no more frustrations.

Untangle Knotted Jewelry & Chains - Simply place a dab of K-Y directly on the knot. Then, gently roll it around between your finger and thumb until it loosen up and you can pull the knot apart.

Shine Shoes and Patent Leather - Although it is recommended to use petroleum jelly or special patent leather cleaning product, you can also use K-Y jelly. A dab of K-Y and a soft cloth can clean and shine your shoes, bags or any patent leather item you might have.

THRIFTY LITTLE TIP: E-FILE TAX RETURNS TO SAVE + 2013 FILING SCHEDULE

This weeks Thrifty Little Tip is to save yourself time and money by preparing and filing your tax return online this year!

If you haven't already used online tax software to e-file and even get a rapid refund, I'm here to tell you that it's such an easy process and you will kick yourself for ever paying a bookkeeping fee or a service to do it for you! Even for in-depth returns such as self-employed business owners!

For early tax filers who anticipate a refund....The IRS has announced that e-file opens on the 30th & they've published the reason for delays.

The two most popular and trusted online tax filing sofwares are TURBOTAX and H&R BLOCK . I have personally been using Turbotax for about 10 years.

The IRS announced that it will start processing 2012 tax returns for the majority of taxpayers on January 30, 2013. This opening date is a week later than previously announced, and affects both e-filed and paper-filed returns.

Congress was late in passing tax laws this year; as a result, the IRS is opening one week later than originally anticipated.

The new tax laws, called the American Tax Relief Act of 2012, were signed into law on January 2, 2013 by President Barack Obama, and extended some tax laws for 2012.

The new tax laws required that the IRS update its forms and instructions, as well as make critical processing system adjustments before it can be ready to process returns.

Remember – no matter which tax preparation software, tax preparation service, or tax preparer you choose, no returns will be processed by the IRS before January 30.

You can get started with your 2013 tax return online now with TURBOTAX or H&R BLOCK and remember that they will begin processing on the 30th, regardless of how you file and what service or software you use.

THRIFT STORE LAMP RE-DO

Just in case you haven't figured it out yet, can I tell you that I have a thing for Cherubs and Angels? I've had this obsession for as long as I can remember.

I found this little guy on one of my thrift store outings and grabbed him up for just 4 BUCKS! I LOVE thrift store Lamp Re-do finds and knew I could bring this little one some depth and dignity with a simple paint makeover.

In his previous life he had a bland, monotone gold spray paint finish that just didn't do all his details justice.

I gave him a coat of ASCP Old Ochre that I had leftover from another project and then hand rubbed dark wax into all his crevices to reveal such depth!

A new lamp shade and bulb and he took his place on my dining room credenza, highlighting some family treasures...what do you think ?
